MX7000: Pass-Through Module

Question

MX7000, PowerEdge MX740c connected to Sled-1, and PowerEdge MX 10GbT PTM IO module connected to A1, We have the LAN cable from Port 1 of IO module connected to Cisco 3850 switch on 1G interface. We can see blinking lights on the back of the IO module as well the interface status is UP in the Cisco switch. But on the PowerEdge MX740c Network Devices, Both Port 1 and Port 2 link status shows as Down.

Hello Paul,

I’m sorry to see the NIC ports on sled-1 show down. Was this working and now it does not, or is it an initial install? Are there other sleds that are working fine?

If the switch shows the link is up I would focus first on the MX740c. Have you tried other slots, or chassis, and does this issue follow the sled? Check the back of the slot for any bent pins?

Try reseating the mezzanine NIC card and test result?

Check the System Event Log and LifeCycle controller log in the DRAC on the MX740c for any failures messages.

Follow up with insuring you have the latest NIC driver in the OS and firmware on the MX740c and firmware for the chassis are up to date. You can find them at the support pages I have linked below.

Got it working, Looks like the 10G/25G Pass-Through Module has to be connected to 10G switch.
