Multiple array setup
Hi,
I just received our new r440. I have 6 SSD's, and the server came pre-configured with all 6 on a raid10 array.
I plan to run 2 virtual servers on this machine.
I need 2 drives on a raid 1 that will host a virtual guest for our ERP application server, the other 4 drives on a raid 10 for the guest that will contain our data.
The LCC seems to only allow you to configure one array, so I'm done poking around in there.
Do I need to delete the entire array in the system setup and start from scratch or is this something I would setup in the OS (server 2019) with hyper v?
Thank you.

Yes, you will need to delete the array and set up the config from scratch. There is no way to downsize an array to a smaller RAID level or array. This must be done in the RAID controller configuration utility. You may be able to use LCC to configure a single RAID 1, then configure the data VD from OMSA in the OS (or in the config util).
I don't see the problem with running everything on a single RAID 10 ... if that is all the server will be doing, I doubt you'll see any performance increase by separating them. It's really unlikely you will bottleneck a 6-disk SSD RAID 10 with two VM's, assuming one is a client/mgmt VM for the database running on the second.
*Maybe* the number of users or type(s) of data could make a difference, but unless this will be supporting a massive amount of data (very active) or a very large number of users, it probably won't make any difference. Even then, you may be better off with the extra bandwidth of a 6-disk RAID 10.
