Need Memory for PowerEdge SC420

I only have 256mb ram on my box and looking to buy some more. Is the memory ECC or Non ECC?
What brand is compatible to my SC420? Thanks.

Memory Architecture.

72-bit, ECC, PC-3200, Unbuffered, DDR II SDRAM, DIMMs, rated for 400-MHz
or
72-bit, ECC, PC-4300, Unbuffered, DDR II SDRAM, DIMMs, rated for 533-MHz operation

I couldn't find PC-4300 533MHz 1 GB memory. Did Dell discontinued that model?

Try Crucial, or Kingston or Samsung, just be sure to NOT mix registered with non-registered. Also try here:

Hi,

May I use the following memory for SC420:

Price:  CAD$121.99

Mushkin Dual Channel 1024MB PC4200 DDR2 Memory
Mushkin's DDR-2 memory is designed for use in the latest generation motherboards. DDR-2 picks up where DDR left off with bandwidth up to 5400 GB/s and plenty of room to grow! These are 240 pin, single sided, un-buffered, non-ECC modules using eight 64x8 FBGA chips in a single sided configuration.

DDR2 consumes 28% less power than first generation DDR allowing for higher clockspeeds and reduced latencies. Includes SPD EEPROM programmed to JEDEC spec latencies of CAS 4-4-4-12.

Specifications

Memory Size  2 x 512MB  Memory Speed  533MHz PC4200  Memory CAS Latency  4-4-4-12  Memory Type  Dual Channel DDR2  Pins  240

the default ram that ships with the SC420 is ECC. You can use either ECC or NON-ECC, just be sure that ALL the ram in your system matches. Be sure every stick is either ECC or NON, as you cannot mix/match. Cheers.
