To boot from NVMe SSD is easy on R340 Server. There needs nothing other just a HyperX Predator SSD with its 4x PCIe adapter card. In UEFI boot mode (maybe with enabled secure boot), the card is recognised as an AHCI controller in Slot x. I used it with a Ubuntu installed on an other system what booted and work at first try. I have been installing a third OS as a second Windows onto the 2nd partition of the drive where the first Windows is on a SATA SSD. As well as, Its multiboot solition allows to boot the second Windows from PCIe SSD. So, HyperX card is fully compatible with R340, and it receives every kind of NVMe SSD's.

PCIe SSD NVMe PCIe cards are not supported in PowerEdge R340. Sorry I can't be of more help. Please let us know if you have any further questions.
