Next PowerEdge 2800 - Next problems

Hi again,

we got a used PowerEdge2800 for a customer from our supplier, out of the box we checked it after shipping and fixed some shipping problems (slipped fans, broken mountings - nothing serious). When we first started, the fans run high but we dont got any picture on the screen - after checking several options the screen still dont comes to the screen, but now we got "proc 1 presence" on the message display. We checked the processor several times (with reassembling it) - it looks ok - but still no picture an the screen and the "proc 1 presence" on the message display.

What can we do?

Does it have one or two processors?

If one:
Reseat the processor (sounds like you already might have done this if that is what you meant by "reassembling").  If you have already done that, then try clearing the NVRAM with the jumpers on the motherboard (near the system memory).

If two:
Remove both processors.  Put processor 2 into slot 1 by itself.  If that doesn't work, then put processor 1 in slot one by itself.

When reseating/moving processors, make sure the processor is not stuck to the bottom of the heatsink on removal or it 1) will not get seated properly, or 2) could bend pins and ruin the processor.
