Perc 6/i controller does not see RIAD 10 configuration
Hello everyone,
After rebooting R710 server, RAID 10 was missing. I was recommended by dell support to recreate identical raid setup and allow the controller to load raid configuration from 4 drives, just need to make sure not to mark initialization when recreating raid. I followed the provided advice.
I was told by dell support that background initialization does not do any changes to the data. Its read-only process which is intended to rebuild raid controllers data about the raid. There is no risk of losing data of the array.
Can someone confirm?

I recreated virtual disk with identical settings to original RAID 10 made sure not to mark initialization. Just like dell tech specified in one of the guides of this board.
What exactly is back initialization is? Any risk of losing data?

Nozadze,
A background initialization is a consistency check. When the controller runs a consistency check it makes sure everything matches across the array and repairs anything necessary.
Let us know how things look when it completes, or if there is any issues with the background init.

Looks like letting perc 6/i do background initialization was not the right course of action. VMFS partition is damaged.
