We've made some progress trying to find the firmware for you! If you can download the following file: <ADMIN NOTE: Broken link has been removed from this post by Dell>
If you either burn this to a CD/DVD or put this into a USB flash drive, we can use the Unified Server Configurator to update the firmware again. Essentially, follow the steps from my 2nd post but when you are prompted to Select Update Repository, please select Local Drive and ensure that the CD/DVD or USB flash drive is inserted into the server.
This may caused by an issue with the power supply firmware but in order to confirm this, I'm going to need the service tags of the two affected servers. I've send you a friend request - if you can send me a private message with the service tags, it would be a great help.
Thank you for giving me your service tags - I've checked the power supply part numbers and these power supplies do have a problem where they do intermittently give erroneous SEL logs. The next part that we need to do is double-check what the PSU firmware is.
To do this, log onto Openmanage Server Adminstrator if you have this installed on both servers and then click on Remote Access. Click on Launch IPv4 Web Interface (the iDRAC will need to be configured on your network to do this). Log onto the iDRAC and then click on Power Supplies - you should see the firmware version here.
If the firmware for your power supplies is at 03.02.50, then you will need to update the firmware. Please do this for one power supply at a time as updating both PSU firmwares at the one time can cause problems if something does happen to interrupt the process. You will need to schedule some downtime in order to do these steps as well.
1) Power on the server and Hit F10 at the POST screen to enter System Services
2) From the Unified Server Configurator (USC) select Settings > Network Settings
3) Select and configure the appropriate NIC that will connect you to the network
4) Click Finish > Click Yes
5) From the Unified Server Configurator select Platform Update > Launch Platform Update
6) Select FTP, Enter in FTP / Proxy information, the default is ftp.dell.com
7) Click Next
8) You must update iDrac firmware to at least v1.10 before you update the PSU firmware. As you have stated that you have updated the iDRAC, you may not need to do this step.Select iDrac firmware v.1.10, Click Apply.
9) System will update, auto reboot, and go back into USC.
I searched for USC in Dell Repository Manager but I didn't find any version for R710 server. Is it OK to use USC for other server type or how to fix this problem?
To install this you would connect to iDRAC on your system using the iDRAC Web interface and from the iDRAC Web interface, click Remote Access then select iDRAC. Select the Update tab, and then browse to the USC Repair Package you downloaded from the link above. Click the Upload button to start the upload of the USC Repair Package. Once it has uploaded, click Next and then click OK to confirm the upload.
Once you have done this, reboot the system and press F10 to enter into the USC.
But now when I configure NIC and then go to select ftp, I can't connect, Test network connection failed. But I´m sure I configured correct NIC and I can even ping IP adress which I set on that NIC. So I don't know why I can't ping from the server. Could you help me even in this situation or it must be some problem with our network?
It may be the case that your other servers have different power supplies which do not exhibit this behaviour. I'm going to have to investigate this issue to see if there's any way I can get this firmware to you so I'll need to wait until my colleagues in America start to come online. Please leave this with me and I'll see what I can do.
Thanks very much for your posts and I'm sorry to hear that the firmware isn't available as the information I had stated that it should be. If it's okay with you, can you tell me what country the server is in? This way, I can give you the telephone number for your local Dell Technical Support team as they should be able to replace these power supplies for you (assuming, of course, that the servers are in warranty).

Hi Kubafalta,

9) System will update, auto reboot, and go back into USC.
10) Click Platform Update > Launch Platform Update
11) Verify FTP is selected > Click Next
12) Select Power Supply Update > Click Apply (remember to only update the firmware for one PSU at a time)
13) System will update, auto reboot, and go back into USC
14) Launch Platform Update and verify PSU Version is now updated.
Please repeat this for each PSU. This should then resolve the problem. Any issues trying these steps, please don't hesitate to let me know!

Today I wanted to do the upgrade but I stopped when trying to enter System Services.
It shows this error: Unable to launch System Services image.

You would need to download and install the following Dell Lifecycle Controller Repair Package: www.dell.com/.../DriverFileFormats

Hi there,
Did you receive any error messages? Also, can you try to connect to ftp.dell.com/catalog rather than ftp.dell.com?

Yes, I receive Unable to resolve host name.
The problem is that when I try Test Network Connection on that screen I receive Ping test failed. So it can't to connect to ftp.
But for example from my PC I can ping the server.

Our servers are already after warranty. Why isn't a newer firmware available when it is on other servers installed?
