Power draw calculations - Data Center Edition
I am going to be shipping an M1000e overseas to a data center uses 240v standard, and they want power requirements in KW. Can anyone tell me now to calculate this for the M1000e with the following servers installed?
3 x M420 - blade servers
1x M4110x - equallogics (All SAS)
2 x Force 10 MXL
2x CMC
6x Power supply. (I could choose to leave some of these unplugged if it makes a difference for draw)
Thanks.

Hi,
You can use the ESSA tool to configure it to your specs and it will provide you with the power requirements. http://www.dell.com/content/topics/topic.aspx/global/products/pedge/topics/en/config_calculator?c=us&l=en&s=corp&cs=
<ADMIN NOTE: Broken link has been removed from this post by Dell>
It will provide the amp draw of the devices. Amps X Volts = Wattage. You can also take the watts number it provides and add 8.34%

Hi Josh,
Thanks for your suggestion, but I cannot make it do anything. There are no instructions, and apparently I have no "solutions."
1. I am asked what voltage I will be using, and what the price for kwh is.
2. I am presented wit a very blank looking screen and no instructions.
3. I give up.
I am back at square one making all of my own calculations. It seems that someone at Dell put effort into writing a tool, but failed to make it useful. Some simple instructions would be very very helpful for both the poor wretch who wrote this tool, and for us wretches who wish to use it.

It looks like there is some issue with it right now, before I posted the link I had tested it, but now I am getting the same blank screen that you are describing. I can tell you the max possible draw with 6 power supplies is 2950w on 240V, but with only 3 blades and storage, your draw would probably be about half of that.
