PowerEdge 1600SC & COM2

Hi,

The company I work for bought a Dell 1600SC in the fall to replace another aging server.  Originally I planned to install a PCI serial card in order to get enough COM ports to satisfy our needs.  However, the Lava serial card I had, when installed, prevented the computer from booting.  In removing the card I noticed the COM port header connector on the MB (which is labeled COM2,) so I installed a pigtail but it did not work.

I found another PCI serial card here (not sure what brand, but not a Lava) which also prevented the server from starting.

How do I get the COM2 rail to function?

There are 2 versions of the Lava card.

One version is for 3.3V pci and one is for 5V pci.

But... what about the COM2 header on the motherboard?
