PowerEdge 1850 Floppy Drive Cable

Hello good people,

I would like to know whether the the PE1850 Floppy Drive Cable would work with a PE2950 Floppy Drive in a PE2950 Server?

Your response would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks ~ Tim

Hello Tim

No, I'm pretty sure it will not work. The cables are functionally identical, but the problem is that the 1850 cable is only about 2 inches long. It is not long enough to reach from the floppy to the system board connection. Here are the part numbers for the cables:

1850: D3001
2950: PC035(old), TX988(new) - Either should work, but we replaced PC035 with TX988.

Thanks

Hello Tim

Under the top cover should be a slot diagram for the system board. Number 14 is the floppy connector. It is next to CPU 1 at the edge of the system board. If you can't locate it or are missing the diagram let me know and I'll post some pictures.

Thanks

Hi Daniel,

Thank you very much for the advice! I'll get the PC035 instead then.

Thanks ~ Tim

Hi again Daniel,

I hope your doing great.

So I got the PC035 cable as you advised and have plugged it into the Floppy Drive which I have inserted into drive-bay "4" under the CD-Rom. I however can't locate the appropriate socket in the PE2950 to plug in the other end of the PC035.

Your further advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks ~ Tim

Found it, just where you said.

Now that I've plugged it in, hopefully it will work.

Thanks alot for the help Daniel.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
