PowerEdge 1950 Fan sensor problems

Hello everyone ... I have a problem with a 1950 dell. Apparently the fans are always at 100%. Looking at OMSA, it reports a failure in module 2A. I exchanged the module for another one in good condition and I still have the same problem in 2A. I updated the BMC and the bios firmware with the same results. The chassis temperature is 18C. and the fan speed is between 10k and 15k except for the 2A that reports 0RPM no matter what ventilation module I install. Another problem reported by OMSA is the PERC5 battery. Will it be related to this problem? Thank you very much in advance!

Hello,

The PERC battery should be entirely unrelated to the fan speed. I'd still recommend replacing it, though.

As for the fans, you might try performing a power drain by unplugging power from the server, then holding the power button down for about 30 seconds, then powering it back up. If that doesn't work, you can try an NVRAM clear (but this also resets the BIOS to defaults). You can refer to the owner's manual for the location of the jumper on the board, but you'll want to move the jumper to cover the common and outside pins, power up, power down, and return the jumper to the default position. You can then bring it back up as normal. If this also doesn't fix the issue, I would begin to suspect the motherboard as being at fault.

Thank you very much for the reply. In a couple of hours I will try those options and inform you of the results.

If those two steps didn't help, I would suspect a faulty motherboard.
