PowerEdge 2950 Auto Boot After Power Restore
Hi all,
I have two PowerEdge 2950 here each connected to an APC's Smart-UPS 1500. Recently, our local power supply informed us that they needed to cut off the power supply to my area for four hours. So, these two servers follow what's configured in APC's Powerchute agent and both of them shut down automatically after five minutes; but both of them failed to boot up after the power was restored. Could anyone of you kindly teach me how to configure these servers so that they automatic boot up after power restore?
PowerEdge 2950 #1: W2K3 R2
PowerEdge 2950 #2: W2K8 /w Hyper-V
Thank y'all very much and look forward to your help

I would like to know if you ever successfully overcame this problem. I am trying to solve a similar problem with eight 2950s, one 1950 and one R510. All servers shutdown gracefully, but do not power up after the power to the UPS 5000 is restored. I am using PowerChute Network Shutdown and communication is established, etc. I have searched the BIOS for settings such as Last State, but there are none. This morning I am enabling Wake On LAN, but I don't think this is it. In other posts in other forums, I have seen references to Dell 2950s defaulting to the Last State, but this would be OFF if PCNS has told them to shutdown gracefully.
Please forward any solutions. Thanks!

2950 manual...

AC Power Recovery
(Last default)
Determines how the system reacts when power is restored to the system. If system is set to Last, the system returns to the last power state. On turns on the system after power is restored. When set to Off, the system remains off after power is restored
There is also a setting within the APC software which effect if the machine automatically turns on with a power restore or not, belive the default is to automatically turn on.

When the UPS software does a graceful shutdown, the 'last' powerstate was "off". So when power comes back and the UPS provides power to the server again, it wouldn't power up. You'd want to set the bios to "on". It does have 1 side-effect; if you're ever purposely powering down and then disconnect it from power, the second you reconnect power the system powers up.
