PowerEdge 2950 Determine BIOS Boot Sequence

Hello,

I'm new to the forum and like many am looking for input regarding a question.

I have the following need:

1. I have a 2950 server and need to determine the BIOS boot order

2. This is a Production Server and need to make this determination (BIOS boot order) without rebooting the server.

Is there a way to determine the BIOS boot order via a utility or Windows Powershell to make this determination? If yes, could you please provide some detail to accomplishing this task.

Kind Regards,

Brian

Hello Brian

I haven't tested this myself, but according to the user's guide you can accomplish this through OpenManage Server Administrator:

http://downloads-us.dell.com/FOLDER00574377M/1/OM-SrvAdmin-Dell-Web-WIN-7.1.0-5304_A00.exe

http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/software/svradmin/7.1/en/UG/PDF/OMSAUG.pdf

It is discussed starting on page 78 of the user's guide.

Thanks

As Daniel said, you can see (and change) the primary boot device in OpenManage Server Administrator (OMSA) ... go to System, Main System Chassis, BIOS, Setup tab, Boot Sequence.  It appears to only let you set the current boot device, not reorder all devices.
