OK so here is the error message:

FBD link to DIMM failed to train: DIMM 4
FBD link to DIMM failed to train: DIMM 8

FBD training errors, Memory Branch has been disabled: Branch 1

This comes after a first message indicating a memory failure, and that system memory has been reduced.

This may be the case, but you didn't mention this, but I do assume you're using memory that's been certified/guaranteed to work with the server (several vendors offer guaranteed compatible memory (Dell, Crucial, Kingston, etc).

Other than that you can try the latest bios on the server for the most compatibility with newer memory or you may possibly be looking at faulty memory.

I must admit that I did not check the compatibility chart for the vendor (Corsair). However I have done a bit of tweaking: I upgraded the BIOS to the latest version (which I should have done a while ago anyway) so it's now version 1.3.something. That did not change the memory issue. I then swapped DIMMs 4 and 8, checking that they were properly seated and all: on boot up the BIOS sees 8Gb and so does Win 2003. So the issue is solved, but I'm not quite sure why it was there in the first place as I would think that a badly inserted DIMM would have shown up on the OpenManage console. Thanks for your help, Steven

Hi, I had 2-PE 2950 Server in cluster environment with 32GB of memory installed on each server whereas os is not using memory more than 3 gb rest of the memory is showing up in cache also in my computer property 32gb memory is reflecting.

Major issue we are facing is while trying to take RDP its taking 5-10 minutes for logon page to appear also some time its take 25-30 minutes for pop-up of logon .

Is it something to take care on optimising memory utilization for server & os ?

please suggest as this is getting miserable day by day.
