PowerEdge 6850 Server Video

Hi all,

I've just purchased a used 6850 and don't seem to be able to get any video. Any assistance appreciated.

If your system has a DRAC (remeote access) card fitted in a pci slot, the onboard video is disabled and redirected to the drac. If one is fitted attach the monitor to it's video out.

Thanks for the reply. Yes it does have remote access and I've tried plugging monitor into the pci fitted card but still no video. It has to be something simple but i'm not experienced. Any other suggestions?

Cheers

i'm just running into the same problem now, it looks like it's booting and running normally, but i can't see anything. I've tried both the front and rear panel vga ports, but i think what is most likely is a bad system board, as i don't have a DRAC installed.

I am having the same exact issue. Tried every VGA port, reboot, nothing pops up. Monitor goes into power save mode. NO OS installed or HD. I bought two of these systems, used, and both have the same issue. I do not see a DRAC on board, but if there is one then it has already been configured and redirects the VGA source to the DRAC. I don't know what it was configured to. Right now I am just sitting with this server. Anyone have any suggestions? I've spent a few hours on this already.

No error lights pop up on the LED. I just need to get this monitor/VGA up! Any insights would be great.

Try reseating everything ... cards, risers, memory, etc.

Try booting up in a minimal configuration (minimum memory, no drives, no expansion cards, etc.

Try clearing the NVRAM using the jumpers on the motherboard.

Finally, try reseating the processors (or trying a minimal processor configuration).

Yeah going to a min config fixed it for me. Not sure if she didn't like her extra 3 procs or extra ram board, but it all works fine now. Thanks!

I got the same problem with my PE6850. No video out put. It's had DRAC card. I had tried with 3 video ports but no luck. I'm also tried re-seat all cards and CPUs but still no luck. Any else suggestions? Please help!
