Can you check whether you have latest BIOS, BMC and iDRAC FW installed on the server?

Hi,

Here you can find the list of all available drivers for your server:

https://dell.to/3sbOggK

Additionally, you can run a hardware diagnostics (ePSA):

https://dell.to/37FJzSB

Error codes you can check here:

 PSA/ePSA error codes

Thank you

Hi,

Thank you for your reply. I hope ePSA diagnostics can help to isolate an issue.

Here you can find the list of all available drivers for your server:

https://dell.to/3sbOggK

>>> My system is Dell R210 II. you suggested here drivers for dell R210, which is not my model exactly.  Anyway, Latest BIOS version for me is  2.10.0 which i have it for ages. I have esxi deployed on this server, so don't know what other drivers should i be looking in the list, for.

Additionally, you can run a hardware diagnostics (ePSA):

https://dell.to/37FJzSB

>>> i ran express and extended diagnostics and i have no error code.

Hi, panicos,

Thank you for your reply.

Which VMware ESXi version is installed?

Here the link with all drivers for PowerEdge R210 II:

https://dell.to/3j6x49q (you can choose your ESXi version in operating system field)

iDRAC firmware v. 2.90

https://dell.to/3sCt0AV

BMC firmware v.1.70, A01

https://dell.to/3sD0Q8K

Additionally I would like to recommend check UPS firmware version. In case ePSA didn't show any hardware code errors, issue could be connected with UPS too. Are you using one of the follows Dell Line Interactive UPSs with 500-2700 W:

UPS 1000R

UPS 1000T

UPS 1920 / 1500R

UPS 1920 / 1500T

UPS 1920R

UPS 1920T

UPS 2700 / 2300R / T

UPS 2700R / T

UPS 500T

You can find an actual firmware for these UPS here (Version 01.14.0003, A07-00 (TJK26):

https://dell.to/384YrKB

You mentioned, that issue started recently. May I please ask you: did you replace some hardware parts in server or install/update software before issue starts?

Thank you

Maria Januszka

Hi Maria,

Attached a image with some details regarding the firmware versions, taken from the idrac gui.

Which VMware ESXi version is installed?>>>>esxi 6.0. I have been running it for years now.

Here the link with all drivers for PowerEdge R210 II:>>>>>yes, but the bios firmware and lifecycle controller and other ones, are the same version; besides that, support ends at esxi 5.5

iDRAC firmware v. 2.90>>>yes, already have that version

BMC firmware v.1.70, A01>>>trully sorry but i dion't know where to check BMC version, nor i don t know exactly what is it. i tried to search on the net but still not clear where, what, how.

Additionally I would like to recommend check UPS firmware version. >>>>UPS  you mean as in an external UPS for power? I am not using an UPS.

You mentioned, that issue started recently. May I please ask you: did you replace some hardware parts in server or install/update software before issue starts?>>>>> it started several months ago (like may) and it repeats totally randomly. For instance i have not had it since 3 weeks now. I have not installed new hardware, nor new software.

Panicos,

Thank you, from everything it appears the server is up to date on the latest versions. On a side note, the BMC is the iDrac in this case, which is also up to date.

As far as we can tell this doesn't appear to be hardware related, as there isn't an error or history of such.

What I would suggest is starting with examining the vm-support logs and see if/what has been report since the issue began. You can find info and steps on vm-support bundles here

Let us know what you see.
