PowerEdge R420 has issue: "System board 1 riser config err 0 config error out of 434 sensors"

Hi all,

My server has deployed VMware  ESXi 5.5.0 and has alert as title:

""System board 1 riser config err 0 config error out of 434 sensors"

I performed some workarounds  but the issue still happens:

+Clearing alert/log from iDRAC then rebooting server

+Disable iDRAC

Could you please help me to cover this problem?

Thanks in advance,

Nhan

Nhan_Nguyen_Ngoc,

The issue is due to the riser config error status bit incorrectly took the status of the riser presence bit.  The issue should resolve itself with the BIOS and iDrac brought to current on their updates.

BIOS - http://dell.to/1qm4aNS

iDrac - http://dell.to/Xey922

Let me know, after updating, if the issue persists.

Hello Chris,

Thank you so much for your response. Following your instruction, BIOS and iDRAC are upgraded successful. But alert is still exist.

iDRAC configuration is not enabled and set on my server yet. Is it the root cause? Can we bypass this issue without setting iDRAC configuration?

Thanks,

Nhan

Have you reseated the card since this started? Just to confirm. Also, the iDrac shouldn't be displaying the error due to lack of configuration. Are you planning on configuring it?

Hi Chris,

No, we are not planning on configuring iDRAC if this alert is not come from iDRAC setting. We concern about the right upgrade files (BIOS or iDRAC). From your links, we just see .exe file while our server to install ESXi 5.5. So if available, could you please help to show us the compatible files to be installed?

Thanks,

Nhan
