PowerEdge R620, iDRAC7 virtual console will not pass keys to server
I have a non-working keyboard issue like in this thread:
http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/servers/f/177/t/19392187.aspx
Installed OS is the latest VMware ESXi.
The virtual console correctly shows the ESXi screen, but keyboard input does not work at all.
Menu command Macros/Alt-sysrq-B dismisses the ESXi screen saver though. But nothing else
My browser is IE10 on Win7 x64 host.
Help?

Keyboard Passthrough was enabled. I should have mentioned this.
The iDRAC and BIOS version is below:
Product Information Integrated Dell Remote Access Controller 7 Enterprise
BIOS version 1.6.0
IDSDM Firmware Version N/A
Firmware Version 1.37.35 (Build 02)
Hardware Version 0.01

DDDBug,
If you go to the Virtual Console widow and in the menu bar you will find Keyboard Passthrough. Enable that and the command should translate through. If not then you may need to update the Drac.

Do you have the console set for JAVA or ActiveX?

Could you change it to Java? ActiveX can have issues with x64 browsers.
Or also try running browser in 32 bit mode as well.

Thank you, Chris.
Keyboard does work on WinXP SP3 and IE8 (32-bit).
Does not work on Win7 x64 and 32-bit version of E10.
On WinXP SP3 with IE6, the main web UI page even will not load.
Will try Java later.
It may be worth mentioning that on the Win7 machine I have Symantec antivirus, which I cannot disable. On WinXP only MS Defender.
Thanks,

dd,
iDRAC user guide mentioned about some setting need to be done on client before using Virtual Console. Can you try it and see whether the issue still exist.
You can download iDRAC7 User Guide from here. Refer section "Configuring Web Browsers to Use Virtual Console" under "Configuring and Using Virtual Console" for details
Your iDRAC vConsole Viewer version looks like old. Can you remove the vConsole plugin from the browser and try again.
You can remove the plugin from browser using "Tools -> Manage Add on" option. Double click on the KVMActivex Control add on and select remove option.
Can you also update iDRAC to latest 1.40.40 firmware and try the same. You can download iDRAC 1.40.40 firmware from here

Thank you Shine,
The readme for v1.40.40 indeed says ithat it supports IE10 and win7 x64.
Will try the iDRAC update at the nearest maintenance time.

After update to ActiveX v.1.40.10, no improvement.
- Win7 SP1 x64 with IE10 32-bit or 64-bit : keyboard not working
- WinXP SP3 with IE8: keyboard works.
- Win7 32-bit with IE9: keyboard works
- Firefox on Linux (Centos 5.5): does not know how to open the .jnlp thing. Java v 1.6 is installed.
So my only option for now is WinXP.
Thanks,

Bonjour,
A savoir :
Les tests ont été effectués sur un Dell R710 avec une iDrac 6 à jours au 21/01/2019 soit la version 2.90.
Traduction en Anglais Google Translate :
Hello,

sudo apt install wine32 # wine installation to date
Little more :
You can not normally keep the file viewer.jnpl you have to re-download it after a certain time (security measure), but by modifying it and replacing the tags "user = xxxxx" and "passwd = xxxxx" for example, "user = root" and "passwd = calvin", you can keep the viewer.jnpl file as long as you want.
To know :
The tests were carried out on a Dell R710 with an iDrac 6 on the 21/01/2019 or version 2.90.
