PowerEdge R710 Memory Type in VMware vCenter?
In VMware vCenter 6.0 we can see System Memory on our ESXi Host Servers as having 6 16GB DIMMs populated in A1-B3 & B1-B3 for a total of 96GB. There is also a field called Memory Type = 24.
We're trying to upgrade (additively - not replacing existing) & know there are Quad RDIMMs, RDIMMs, & UDIMMs available for the PowerEdge R710.
The system is in production, so we can't easily shut it down just to determine what memory it currently has.
Does this Memory Type = 24 mean anything useful in determining whether it's Quad-Ranked RDIMMs or Dual-Ranked RDIMMs or whatever? I believe that we're able to exclude UDIMMs, since the Current DIMMs are 16GB & the Max Supported UDIMMs are 8GB.

Hi,
Memory type 24 is DDR3. It is not detailed enough information to determine what specific type of memory you need for the upgrade. Do you have the Server administrator plugin installed? You could also go to the support site and enter your service tag and look at the original configuration.
