You should be able to contact Dell Spare Parts at 800-357-3355 with part number W5620 which is for the fan and shroud assembly for systems with 4GB of memory.
I bought my SC1420 in the UK, but cannot manage to buy this part anywhere.
Dell has given me a number for UK Part Sales, which actually transfers me to a call-centre in India. The language barrier is so high and they cannot understand what this part is or what it does.
Is it possible to buy this part from the US and have it shipped? I've come so close to my wits end... I feel really let down by Dell's lack of customer service.
I cannot believe how Dell are behaving. I bought the system with 1Gb of memory and wanted to upgrade it to 4Gb.
After buying the memory from another vendor (35% cheaper), I now find I need a new part - which Dell won't supply.
They're doing this to force me to buy the memory from them. This is so anti-competative... if Microsoft did this people would be screaming from the hills.
I'm so disappointed in Dell. I will never buy from them again after this.
Which pin did you use? The kingston fan fits over the memory but the connector is different than the one on the Dell SC1420 system. How can it be changed to fit? is there an adapter?

Hi,
just for the record (4 years later!): memory fan is needed for MORE than 4GB. I've tried for 4 GB (2x2GB) without memory fan, it works.

You can't just buy the stock Kingston memory fan. The company on Ebay modifies the stock by putting on the correct connector... Friendly Computers.
