PowerEdge T110 II - Perc S100 raid question

Hello,

We have a PowerEdge T110 II with a Perc S100 raid controller.

The server has 4 disks, 3 in a raid-5 array, one as GHS.

All physical disks show online/ready.

The single virtual disk shows a state of rebuilding (and has for a month), with 0% complete.

The unit is operating without issue.

My question is, how do I clear the "rebuilding" state?  A reboot has no effect.

Thanks.

Hello

Where is it reporting that it is rebuilding? If it is a management application like OpenManage Server Administrator then make sure you are running a supported version. If you install a newer or older version than is supported it may not report correctly.

A ready state indicates the drive is not being used, it is ready for use. If you can locate the disk that is in a rebuilding state then you should be able to remove and re-insert the disk to restart the rebuild. I would make sure it is not a reporting issue first though.

Also, check your virtual disk configuration to see if you have a sliced array. A sliced array is when you have more than one virtual disk on a physical disk. Sliced arrays can have issues rebuilding.

You should not update controller firmware during a rebuild. Most of our controllers will block firmware updates during a rebuild operation, but since the S100 firmware is updated along with the system BIOS it may allow an update during a rebuild. If you stop and restart the rebuild process then I suggest updating the BIOS to the latest if it is not already up to date. You should perform the update between the rebuild stop and restart.

Thanks

Daniel,

Thanks for the reply.

OMSA is reporting the rebuild state.

Firmware is up to date.

Only one virtual disk, so no slicing.
