PowerEdge T300 RAM issues

Just added more RAM to T300 and Windows SBS 2008 shows 16 GB however Total Installed Capacity Available to the OS is showing as 8GB. My configuration is as per below:

DIMM1 DDR2-SYNCHRONOUS 2048 MB
DIMM2 DDR2-SYNCHRONOUS 2048 MB
DIMM3 DDR2-SYNCHRONOUS 2048 MB
DIMM4 DDR2-SYNCHRONOUS 2048 MB
DIMM5 DDR2-SYNCHRONOUS 4096 MB
DIMM6 DDR2-SYNCHRONOUS 4096 MB

I have tried installing just the new 2x4GB without the other modules and server sits there with a black screen. It sounds as if it is booting but nothing happens, not even any error is shown on a small LCD panel. RAM modules are all the same except for the new ones being 4GB rather than 2GB each. New modules are 240 Pin 1.8v DDR2 PC2-5300 ECC Registered Dimm (Dual Rank).

Any suggestions please? Should they all be 2GB?

Thank you Robert for your reply. I am a bit worried though becuase when I tried just the 4GB modules server did not boot at all, just sat there with blank screen. Surely it should boot if all was OK. Don't really want to buy more modules just to find out that they don't work. Also SBS2008 does say that there is 16GB of RAM installed. DOMSA says only 8GB available out of 16GB and Task Manager shows also just 8GB of physical memory.
