Platin465,

The 2nd board has a different pinout for the Westmere processor. You will have to have the 2nd board if you have the Westmere. If you don't have Westmeres then either board should work.

In regards to determaining what is in the system by Srv Tag, you can follow this link
http://www.dell.com/support/troubleshooting/us/en/19/Product/poweredge-t410
and then click on "System Configuration " tab and then enter tag number. I it will show a list with your components.

Let me know how it goes.

Chris,

Thank you for the info!  Most of the ones I'm finding have that 2nd board.  My "System Configuration" doesn't include any of the numbers I mentioned for the motherboard, nor did one of the ones I found for sale which did have a similar ship date as mine.  I opened mine up and it has the M638F chip.

Do you think I would be able to back up my system and restore it on a system with one of the different boards?  In the end, that's what I think we'd do and keep it for backup so that if one goes down we just need to plug the other in until we can get the first fixed.

You should be able to back up the server and then just move the hardware over and power up. You may have to deal with a foreign configuration or a retag. I would definitely suggest the backup though.

Try looking for them with these part numbers, it is for the kits.

M638F - look for T1GRW

Y2G6P - look for 29F01

...then a M638F board could be replaced with any of the other models including H19HD, correct?

sorry for reusing an existing (old) thread
