I have the 2 in use drives in bay 0 and 1, can I plug the new drives in bay 2 and 3 to start the process? Will the new drives be recognized if I plug them in? Does the server have to be off to do this?
You will be able to add another RAID 1 with your current configuration. Please note that non-Dell drives may not properly communicate with the controller. Dell drives run on Dell proprietary firmware allowing them communicate with the controller. Non-Dell drives may show incorrect status since they are running on other firmware that's not compatible with the controller.
