Poweredge 1750 status light not working.

Hi,

I recently bought 2 poweredge 1750's . One of them works all fine(status lights are fine too) but the other one has issues. It has a different bios and the status lights are not working. this results in the system blowing air and making noise as hell.  I was thinking of some driver issues. Also i dont have openmanage installed(the other one doesnt have it either). Anyone could think of a problem with this? Maybe some hardware defects regarding the lights?

D3nnisd,

In regards to the fans being maxed out, if that is what you were referring to, that is normally an issue with the ESM being out of date. So to start I would get the systems up to date on BIOS -ESM and Raid controller, if installed. Then reboot to see if then issue is resolved.

Now you don't want to jump to the very latest if the server is far back. So go to "Previous Versions" and walk the updates up from your existing revisions.

BIOS - http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/DriverDetails/Product/poweredge-1750?driverId=6J6WK&fileId=2731106626&osCode=WNET&languageCode=en&categoryId=BI#OldVersion

ESM - http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/DriverDetails/Product/poweredge-1750?driverId=089J7&fileId=2731108613&osCode=WNET&languageCode=en&categoryId=ES#OldVersion

Find your raisd controller here - http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/Product/poweredge-1750?retrieveState=True

Now in regards to the Status Light, which light are you referring to? The Blue or amber light? Also is the system otherwise booting as normal?

Let me know.

Reboot to the ESM, CTRL-E on  prompt at start up.

Let me know if you find it.

It is embedded so it should be there. It is a Ctrl-E prompt on startup. Should state ESM, BMC, or ERA/RAC for the prompt.

while booting it tells me : Embedded Server Management not present.

Meaning its not there.

Do i need openmanage to install it ?
