You cant get sound to work even if you found a driver. The connector is there in the motherboard, but we have no cable connecting it to the back panel.
Can someone at Dell confirm if there is a part number that we can order these cables for the 400SC server. Also what is the right audio driver to install?
The audio ports on the rear of the PowerEdge 400 SC do not need a cable. The connector you see is for the auxilliary port which are not supported on the PowerEdge 400 SC, there is no cable available.

These are the only drivers for the audio system:
Redhat Linux Enterprise 3.0
Redhat Linux 9.x
Redhat Linux 8.x
Windows 2000 and 2003
Officially neither the sound system nor Windows XP Pro is supported on the PowerEdge 400 SC, but it does work.
Thanks for using the Dell Community Forums!

My MB generated sound on my 400SC is horrible. It cracks and distorts when bass tones are generated.
I'm just going to slap a PCI soundcard in it. Not worth the hassle of making "network" sound viable...

That did not help - actually made it worse!
Ruled out speakers and software.
Crackling most likely generated by a faulty pci bridge driver or something of that nature?
