Poweredge 4400 Raid Problem

Hi,

I have a poweredge 4400 with built in PERC 3/DI, currently it is set to SCSI rather than RAID although I'm sure that I have previously had it set to RAID and successfully passing the POST. However, when I enable RAID now the system fails, it passes most RAID self tests until it reports

"Controller Kernal Self Tast Failed", the detailed report says

Parameter eePROM / key checks failed
BIOS not installed

Then it can't see any disks attached to the controller.

Other than a totally failed card, can anyone suggest how I might be able to correct this problem ?

regards
Dave

Sorry, I should have said that I have also just upgraded the BIOS and ESM versions to the latest on the Dell site, don't know if this might be related ?

OK - answering my own post, but it might help someone else !

Root cause of the problem was that the Service Tag field had been lost, not sure if it was as a result of the BIOS upgrade which I did but that is what stoped the PERC from passing the POST. Eventually found the right ASSET.COM utility (there seems to be a few and not all work with a PE4400) to put the Service Tag back and all is well, RAID fully configured and runs fine,
