Poweredge R730 Fails to boot BIOS
Our R730 Poweredge server rebooted today, but failed t o restart successfully. When the BIOS started up I see a message during the Initializing Firmware interfaces: (in screen shot).
I have updated the iDRAC firmware but can not get the BIOS to update since it seems the problem occurs before the update starts. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
BIOS Version 2.4.3
IDRAC Version: 2.70.70.70

I fixed the issue by doing a complete power down including unplugging the power cables. I then let the server sit for 30 minutes to allow batteries and capacitors to drain. I was then able to power the system on and it recognized all drives, updated the BIOS and everything is working again.

Jherron724,
I would start with removing all the PCIe cards and then try the update again, if that fails to work then take the server to its minimum to post configuration, which is removing everthing from the server (internally and externally) except the following;
•Motherboard
•CPU 1 w/heatsink
•1 DIMM in Slot A1
•1 Power Supply
•Control Panel
•Riser 1
Then try powering up and see if you can update.
I believe the issue is a 3rd party PCI card, so I would start with those.
Now in regards to updating, there may be an issue caused from updating the iDrac to current with the BIOS so far back, as there are a few urgent updates listed. With updating the BIOS, I wouldn't recommend running the lastest, I would walk it up with the previous versions to current.
Hope this helps.
