Poweredge R920 boot problems

Question

Hi,

My build is very unusual. I brought only the Systemboard without chassis. Systemboard is brandnew and has never booted before.

I'm using Systemboard (V7HD0), 2x CPU E7-4880v2, 2x Dell Heatsink, 2x PSU (1100W), 2x Memory Riser (2x8Gb 1600ecc), 2x Fan 120mm,

My problem is at boot up is...

At first on display appears "Configuring Memory..." after one minute appears "...Done"

Screen gets black and the PSU fans stop rotating. VGA-signal gets lost with no error message.

Only LEDs on board keeps blinking.

So I can't enter bios or iDrac.

In my build PCIe card in Slot1 is missing. Usually in Slot1 is NDC-Riser card.

Could this my problem?

I've no heating problems for sure.

Any help is appreciated

I have that same problem, but it seems from 2018 no one even answer..

Would you confirm the hardware installed and any errors presented?
Also I would start with taking the R920 to its Mimimum to Post configuration, which is removing everything from the server but the following;

One Power Supply
One Power Supply Distribution Baord
One System Board
One Processor (CPU) in socket CPU1 (minimum for troubleshooting)
One Memory Riser
One Memory Module (DIMM)
One Network Daughter Card

After that then try powering up, if the server completes post then individually add the removed devices back until the issue reapears, which identifies the device causing the issue.

Let me know what you see.

Spoiler Nevermind i got it. I didn't think about jumpers at all, it turns out that the jumpers were misplaced. Once set up correctly, everything works as it should. Nevermind i got it.
