Poweredge T310 Motherboard problem
Dear Dell.
My poweredge T310 does NOT power on!. I searched previous post to find how to solve power up problem. I got rid of other parts except CPU and memory.
Memory: Hynix ECC Unbuffered DDR3 2GB with single rank (HMT325U7BFR8C-H9 T0 AB)
CPU: Xeon X3440 LGA 1156
But, T310 was not turned on. So, I thought there would be power supply problem and replaced original 375W power to dell's 525W power supply for precision T3500. When I checked both power supplies using power supply tester, it works great. Other power supplies were used to turn on my T310. But, it does not power on..
What happend to my T310? Power test button on power supply was pushed but not work and no green light. Whatever I changed powersupply, T310 motherboard does not work.. Is this motherboard problem? or memory problem? (No CPU problem. it was tested other LGA 1156 motherboard and worked great! ECC Unbuffered memory was tested poweredge t110 and no problem.)
Could you tell me how to solve this power-up problem? Other testing methods?
Thanks in advance..

Hello Yoonpower
I checked the T3500 power supply and it is not compatible with the T310. The T310 uses a 12+2 power connection and the T3500 just uses a 12. The only way you can be certain on the failed component would be to test with known good parts.
This could be an issue with te system board, power supply, or control panel. If the flea power indicator is not lit on the system board then it is not an issue with the control panel.
There is an LED on the power supply. If that LED is not coming on at all, is amber, or is flashing between green and amber then the PSU is likely the problem. If it is solid green then the issue is likely with the system board.
Thanks

Dear Dell.
Thanks for your response. What is 12+2 power connection? Most ATX power supplies have 24 pin for motherboard and 4 pin or 8 pin additional CPU power connector. Does Poweredge T310 have special power supply which is not typical ATX power?
Thanks in advance.

Additional information.
No light on PSU. (no green and amber color)
No power light when I pushed power button.
PSU problem? Could you tell me what specification of T310's PSU to solve this problem? T122K (T310's 375W PSU) is solely for T310?
Thanks again.

Hi YOONPOWER
It's either the power supply or the motherboard is having the issue here.
You will have to swap with known-good power supply or motherboard to test it out.
Is your server still under warranty? If yes, I would highly recommend you to call support to log a case for service.
Yes, part# T122K is solely for T310. However, T310 also uses part# T128K(375W).
Let us know how it goes.

Dear.
I bought T310 as used. So, the warranty has been expired... Anyway, I should fix this problem by myself to avoid additional fee.
I think T310 is not compatible with ATX power.. I tried 4 ATX power supply to T310 but these it did not power up.
From above answer, T310 power supply has 12+2 connection, what is 12+2 connection? this means dual 12V rail, doesn't this?
Could you recommend dell's power supply which is compatible with T310 because 375W output power is not enough to attach graphic card on 16x PCI-e (8x link). Moreover, original T310 power supply does not provide additional PCI-e and 4 pin molex power connectors except two SATA power connector..
In my opinion, this problem was caused due to power supply... When I connected ATX power to T310, there was no green or amber light on power supply.... and T310 does not support ATX power standard...
I am looking forward to hearing soon..
Thanks in advance...
Sincerely

Sorry for the confusion, the 12+2 was a mistake. It is a 20+4 power connector. The T3500 power supply you tried is listed as a 20 pin connector, so that will not work.
There are no power supplies for this server that support an add on video card. Here are the part numbers for the power supply(375 watt). We only sell 375 watt non-redundant and 400 watt redundant for this server. You can try other power supplies, but I do not know how well they will function. To my knowledge there is nothing proprietary about the power supply, so in theory you should be able to use other power supplies.
T122K - Delta
T128K - Liteon
Thanks

Thanks for your answer..
20+4 main power is ATX V2 power supply... (T310's main power connector is 24 pin, additional CPU power connector is 4 pin. This is followed stanard ATX V2.) So, I tried brand new Antec 650W dual V12 rail with EPS power supply to connect with T310 motherboard but it does not work.. Power supply that I tried were Antec 650W, T110 PSU, OCZ 550W and T3500 PSU. I understand T3500 PSU is not compatible with T310. Why doesn't T110's PSU work with T310? And other PSU!!!
So, I search ATX power connector pin out and compared it with T310 PSU connect. The connector color (12V: Yellow, 5V: Red, 3.3V: Orange, ground: Black) on T310 connector is far different from standard ATX..
Does T310 use customized PSU?
I want to get new PSU with PCIe connector to install graphic card..
I am looking forward to hearing soon.
Thanks in advance
Best Regards

Hello Yoonpower
The part numbers I supplied are the only compatible power supplies I am aware of for this server. We do not support adding audio or video cards on this server, so the power supplies for the server do not have power connectors for video cards.
If the server is not able to meet your needs with video then you might consider a Precision Workstation. Also, some of our recently released 12G servers support video cards.
Thanks for checking on the power supply. I was not aware that it is proprietary, and I'm sure that will help others out that may have the same question.
Thanks

Dear Dell.
Thanks for your answer.. So, PowerEdge T310 only supports its original power supply and is NOT compatible with other ATX power supply even though it has 24+4 pin ATX V2 power connector..
My T310 will operate when the original power (T122k or T128k, or redundant power) is installed.
Can 375W T310 power supply support graphic card which does not have additional PCIe connector when four SATA HDD are installed?
How many V12 rail does T122K (oT128K) have? Single or Dual?
I hope T310 PSU can support graphic card without PCIe power connector..
Thanks again.
Best Regards

Wow Super!! Thas't great news
Could you send the diagram of power supply? When I tried to replace low capacity of original power supply (less 400W), I wan not able to connect ATX power. Currently I used the original power.. I will try replace the original power to ATX power..

Hi thanks for the pinout of voltage,
First time for me converting, what do you use for the White 12V, I do not have any white on my new PSU, do I use the yellow?
