You aren't mixing UDIMM's (you said Hynix 'Unbuffered' memory works) and RDIMM's (your Elpida is Registered) are you?  That will not work.

Good morning, YOONPOWER,

Are the 2 GB ECC DIMM's  in the server at the same time with the 4 GB  DIMM's?

What slots do you have the 4 GB DIMM's installed?

Do you have 1 or 2 processors?

Thanks in advance,

Dear Dell.

I installed two 4GB ECC REG memories (dual rank) but it did not work. So, two 4GB (total 8GB) memories are removed and only 2GB ECC unbuffered memory is installed.

My question is that why two 4GB dual rank ECC REG memories do not work even though T310 supports dual rank ram.

I want to install two 4GB dual rank ECC REG memories into my T310 to set 8GB in total.

Processer is Xeon X3430; single CPU (T310 supports only on CPU, right?)

PS. I know ECC REG and ECC unbuffered cannot be mixed.

Dear Dell.

I understand my dual rank 4GB ECC REG is not compatible to my T310.. Thanks for your information on compatible 4GB memory list.

Best Regards.

Here is a short list of validated 4GB DIMM's,  unbuffered and Registered:

C1KCN  DIMM,4G,1333,2RX8X72,8,240,REG

H959F    DIMM,4G,1066,4RX8X72,8,240,REG

R1P74  DIMM,4G,1333,2RX8,8,240,UBE,LV

There is only 1 certified and tested  4gb dual rank RDIMM for this server, and its a 1333, not 1066.   You may be able to find one that meets this qualification, but it appears the ones you have will not work with this server.

Geoff ... he has been referencing 10600 memory (which would be 1333MHz), not 1066MHz (which would be 8500 memory) ... unless he intended to write 1066MHz, then that would not be the determining difference between them, making one incompatible.  You'd probably have to compare other specs like timing and/or layout to find the reason for the incompatibility (assuming of course, that the memory he received was actually good).

Dear theflash1932

Thanks for additional information. After I read your post, I tried to find the difference between my RAM and Dell's recommend.

RAM speed is 1333MHz (PC3-10600R) and its timing is CL9 but the rayout that you mentioned is different. My ELPIDA RAM has 2Rx4 but Dell's recommend RAM has 2Rx8.. This might caused incompatibility.

Thanks again.

Best Regards.

Dear Dell

I have one more question on 2GB ECC REG RAM configuration.

6 x 2GB 1Rx8 PC3-10600R ECC REG in total 12GB

DIMM Slot

1: 2GB 1Rx8 PC3-10600R ECC

3: 2GB 1Rx8 PC3-10600R ECC

5: 2GB 1Rx8 PC3-10600R ECC

2: 2GB 1Rx8 PC3-10600R ECC

4: 2GB 1Rx8 PC3-10600R ECC

6: 2GB 1Rx8 PC3-10600R ECC

Total: 12GB

Does this RAM configuration work for my T310? (Manufacturer is Samsung)

Thanks in advance.

Best Regards
