Poweredge r720 does not register storage and raid controller

I am repurposing a really old dell poweredge r720 that hasn't been used for years, I'm guessing it was a model from 2011-2012. A few months ago I booted it up to find out it was running on linux/Ubuntu, which I then installed windows 10 on it which worked fine for the day until the next morning it wouldn't boot up, so I left it alone. Recently I decided to take a closer look into the problem, and I realised that there was something wrong with the raid, while booting up it would ask me to press control R to enter configuration utility but it wouldn't respond, and then after awhile it would say "Adapter at baseport not responding" followed by "No adapter) and it would proceed with its startup sequence until it tries all possible boot medias, of which all give out a boot failed: (wherever it tried to boot from, EFI something) " error and then conclude with a statement saying there were no boot media's available at all. I have 4 Samsung 750 evos at 250gb each and I have no idea how they were configured before when it was running Linux, and I have tried to boot up with raid disabled (it just skips the adapter at baseport not responding) but it still has no boot able medias. When I tried to boot from a Windows 10 bootable drive and it asked me where I would like to install Windows, it gave me a list of nothing at all, no drives to install on. I have also switched the drives from ahci to raid (with no luck) and back, I've taken out the raid card and placed it back in to no avail. Can anyone tell me what could be the problem here? I know nothing about servers at all so any help would be appreciated.

Edit: when testing the hardware with life cycle controller, it reached the hard disks test and it came up with the error code 2000-0141, what does that mean?

Hey Chris, I've also posted a question with the same issue on another forum with more information and pictures there (https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/948045-dell-poweredge-r720-doesnt-detect-my-ssds). However a few years back when the server was still in operation it had no trouble with the Samsung 750 Evos. I also mentioned that during boot up, when it offers to press control R to enter the configuration utility for the raid controller, it doesn't respond and then after a few minutes, it shows an "adapter at baseport not responding" and then "no adapter" message, therefore I have huge suspicions that the raid card is the main issue at hand, which several others have reinforced my suspicions. Someone also suggested that I get a dell perc h710 in place of the current (possibly dead) dell perc s110 in the server, where would I find such a thing and how much would it cost?

P.S I think I have also tried running the server with all drives removed, it pretty much just says something along the lines of "drive 3 was removed from bay 1" on the LED screen, so I still think the issue lies within the raid controller but I am not a hundred percent certain until I take them out individually and test if they work.

JoelLeung,

Ok, a couple things to start. I would take a look at the drives, as the 750 evos are not listed as supported in the server. I would suggest removing them for the time being to see if we can get the raid controller working properly. Remove the drives and restart and see if the controller starts normally, and is accessible. If so then the issue is likely just from the drives.

Also on a side note the 2000-0141 is a drive missing error.

Let me know what you see.
