QLogic QL45212-DE update fail

I tried to update QLogic QL45212-DE dual 25GbE port adapter but the update failed and now it shows up as one port 40Gb. lspci:

Ethernet controller: QLogic Corp. FastLinQ QL45000 Series 40GbE Controller (rev 10)
Subsystem: QLogic Corp. FastLinQ QL45000 Series 40GbE Controller
        Physical Slot: 2
Control: I/O- Mem+ BusMaster- SpecCycle- MemWINV- VGASnoop- ParErr+ Stepping- SERR- FastB2B- DisINTx-
        Status: Cap+ 66MHz- UDF- FastB2B- ParErr- DEVSEL=fast >TAbort- SERR-

The device shows up as 1077:1634 (rev 10) but should be 1077:1656.

lnxfwnx2 shows No supported network adapter found.

Is there a way how to flash previous firmware or another way how to fix it?

Do you know what version it was at previously? You could probably run that firmware flash again and backflash it.

It could be an issue with that PC not providing enough power to the card or some other compatibility issue.

The issue is that one card has different DEVICE ID after a failed FW update and the other one even though updated successfully, still won't work. I tried today CentOS and I put the card to the slot where was GPU before and the DELL FW tools still do not see the card even though it shows up in lspci. The issue is in the firmware and I think it is just necessary to flash it back to the default or reflash it, but I cannot find anywhere the tool or any manual.

That is what I am trying to do but the flashing SW does not recognize the card. Before, the adapter had version 8.0. But that version is not available from DELL.

Did you get the card from us or from a third party reseller?

I have no idea, I am not in charge of buying equipment. That is a different department, but I think it was bought a long time ago and just was not used.

You may be able to force a flash with /f but it could break the card and if it didn’t come from us we won’t be able to replace it.

September 17th, 2020 13:00

What exactly do you mean by with /f? Using what command?

September 17th, 2020 13:00

I do not think it is possible because it just says there is no card in the system. But I have not tried /f. Should it be done under Windows or Linux? With this https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=82j79 ?

Running one of the older firmware update versions from command line.

/f for windows –f for linux

I tried to run FW 8.00.30  on CentOS with the -f option but the update software does not recognize the card. It says "This Update Package is not compatible with your system". I think the issue is the device ID which the card has different than before update. Is there a way how to select the PCIe device to flash directly?

Not that I am aware of, maybe with the Qlogic version of the firmware.

So is there a way how to reflash the card to original FW or Dell update SW just made them unusable? I contacted Marvell but they redirected me to Dell for support.
