R610 CPU upgrade : multiple errors, does not boot

Hello,

I already made a really detailed post that as been deleted when I tried to post it, so I'll be quick.

I upgraded from Xeons E5640 to X5650. Already tried upgrading PSUs to 707W. Already tried switching ram slots or changing for new ones. It boots using 1 CPU only (both). It won't boots using 2 CPUs, BUT it boots if I only activate 4 cores per CPU. Error is changing from "CPU 1" to "CPU 2" while switching CPUs places. Socket pins are perfectly fine and clean. CPUs are perfectly clean. Ram slots too. I am running on EXSi 6.7, and bios version is 6.6 (found on Dell website).

Errors I get :

E1422 CPU 1 Machine check error. Power cycle AC

E1410 System Fatal Error detected

CPUs are both supposed to be working together on another system. Please help, i'm upset, I really need it to work but nothing I try is working...

Hi,

Are you saying that 1 of the CPU will prompt the error? Could you identify this, if both CPU are not prompting error if only on 1 CPU configuration? So say, install CPU A and it boots, no issues then try CPU B only. Verify if both CPU working on the R610. Could you let me know the heatsink DPN#. A picture of the heatsink if possible.

Hello,

Thank you for your answer.

I'll give you the Heatsink numbers when I Can grab it. Those were built in, on E5640 xeons CPU.

It boots with both CPU A and B. I just figure out that rams are totaly different. I have some 2Rx8, 4Rx4... Even 2Rx16. May the problem be caused by RAM configurations ? Errors look kinda random.

Thanks.

Sincerely

Hi, 52773196

You might be right on the RAM configuration that causing the issue. Can you check if you're able to just use the same specification memory, to minimize the root cause so we know what's going on with the issue?
