R740 Fan 1 & Fan 2 Configuration Mismatch
Hi,
We have an R740 server reporting the following errors in the iDRAC system event log:
Fan 1 Configuration Mismatch
Fan 2 Configuration Mismatch
They are critical events but don't trigger the amber system health LED, they only show up in iDRAC. They don't show as errors in the Lifecycle diagnostic tests either. I can't find any reference to them in the poweredge 14th gen error codes manual. I've tried shuffling fans around within the chassis, and the slot number follows the fans and still reports the error. I guess I have 2 bad fans, but why doesn't my chassis LED light up to tell me something's wrong? Any insight is appreciated. Thanks!
Edit: upon physical inspection, the 2 "bad" fans are actually just a different part number labeled "high performance" while the other 4 are marked "airflow". I guess this causes the issue, but still, why no system fault LED for these critical errors?

Mtexter,
I believe the reason you are seeing what you are seeing is that it is an informational alert to a configuration issue, and not due to a failure. A failure would result in the amber light showing. I would recommend replacing the "high performance" fans with matching parts in the server.
Hope this helps.
