RAM upgrade for PE T310

I have a DELL PE T310 server :
Current RAM configuration:
P# = J160C, Qty = 2, Description = DUAL IN-LINE MEMORY MODULE, 2G, 1333, 2Rx8x72, 8, 240, UBE

Processor:
P#=M7YNR, Qty = 1, Description = PROCESSOR, X3430, 2.4/4.8. 8MB, XUL, B1

I am considering upgrading the ram to the possible maximum, by adding to what is already installed, or replacing with a complete new set of modules. From many online discussions and Tech's experiences I have read so far, it looks like it can be an arduous task leading to great despair. Kindly help identify for me the appropriate RAM module models that will work with this PE T310 server. Thanks.

Hello

Your current modules are unbuffered/unregistered modules, if you are wanting to get close to maximum memory you are going to need to use registered/buffered modules. The memory population rules should be in the system manual. Be sure to check the document list for any informational updates in regard to memory. If memory support is changed we may not release a new manual, instead of releasing a new manual we will add an information update to the manuals section of the support page.

Thank you "DELL-Daniel My".

So I searched the web again and identified the following RAM -

Dell Memory Upgrade - 4 GB 2Rx8 DDR3 RDIMM 1333MHz

https://www.dell.com/en-uk/work/shop/dell-memory-upgrade-4-gb-2rx8-ddr3-rdimm-1333mhz/apd/a6996785/memory

According to the PE T310 user manual, looks like the maximum i can get to with this type of configuration is 24GB. In your assessment, do you think these RAM modules are compatible with PE T310 ?

Yes, those modules are validated. If you have dual CPUs you can install six of those modules for a total of 24GB.

The maximum supported configuration is 32GB. You can install four 8GB modules to attain the maximum memory. The 32GB memory limitation appears to be imposed due to ranks. At the time we released the system we had only validated quad rank 8GB modules. You can only install a maximum of four quad rank modules. We validated a dual rank 8GB module at a later date.

I have found no documentation that states we support 48GB of memory in the T310, but based on the population rules it should work. It would not be a supported configuration, but you can try installing six of the dual rank 8GB RDIMMs. I was unable to find it for sale on our website. Our part number is:

CXPTG

You may be able to order it through spare parts sales or a reseller. There are also several quad rank 8GB modules validated for the T310.

Thanks
