Re: Dell PowerEdge 1850 Server: Can I position it vertically & How do I install a CD-Rom ?

Hi,
Q: How do I install a CD-Rom in a Dell PowerEdge 1850 Server ?
I have the CD drive + its caddy and its short ribbon cable.

Q: Also I don't have a server rack, so to save space:
...would it be acceptable to mount this server vertically on a wall ?
...or would this effect the HDD's & CD-Rom ?

Thanks, Mac.

Here is a link to the guide that will assist you installing the CD-ROM: ftp://ftp.dell.com/Manuals/all-products/esuprt_ser_stor_net/esuprt_poweredge/poweredge-1850_User%27s%20Guide12_en-us.pdf

You can mount this vertically or horizontally,  the drives will work fine. Just make sure its mounted in a fashion to support the weight.

Regards,
