Rebuilding RAID configuration with R610

My R610 decided to have a 2-bay failure (6 total) and everything came crashing down. I have some new drives from Dell that I plan on putting in to expand the storage and rebuild the array in the BIOS. If I recall correctly the OS is split onto two drives in RAID 1 and the other four drives are grouped and ran as RAID 5. I inherited the device and I'm struggling with finding documentation on how to complete this RAID rebuilding process in the server's BIOS so I can then install an OS and restore it.

Any and all help is appreciated! Thank you!

Rebuild is possible if only one disk is failed in RAID 1 or RAID 5. If both failed disk are from same virtual disk then virtual disk will be in failed state and you will not be able to recover it.

What storage controller you have on the server?

To rebuild you can check the physical disk status. If it is in failed state () then you can replace the drive and wait for rebuild to happen automatically. If rebuild is not started automatically you can assign it as hot spare which will initiate the rebuild. You can do this from PERC configuration utility in POST or using OMSA.

Please note replacement drive need to be of same type and family of current failed drive with same or more capacity.

You can check the controller details in OMSA if you have a OMSA supported operating system on the server. If not you can reboot the server and check the PERC controller details during POST

Hello, thank you for the reply.

Both failed disks were in the RAID 5 group unfortunately. I found out when I acquired higher capacity drives from the same family and put them in to see if it would rebuild. I figured the easiest way to go about this would be to setup the RAID configuration from scratch and follow some documentation for the BIOS config since this is my first time. Would you happen to have any helpful links? How would I check what storage controller I have on the server?

I appreciate any help, thanks again!

I attached some related images of the BIOS. Hope this helps!

Hello again sorry for the late response,

It looks like its a PERC 6/i controller.
