Redundant Power Warning LED

Question

hi all, we have 2 PE1950's both with redundant power supply units. at this moment in time each server only has one PSU connected to the main, this therefore makes the LED on the front of the server turn orange.

is there a way to disable this so it turns blue again with only 1 PSU connected to the mains?

thanks for the ideas but i thought there was a way of doing it within OpenManage or the bios maybe??  I have seen it done in the past but i cant remember how   Nigel

You can try pulling out the whole powersupply so the server considers it to be a single PSU server, or use one of those powercords that has dual outputs (assuming your PDU/UPS can provide enough power for the extra powersupplies).

There is no way of disabling this. You could press the system identifier button, which will change the light to blue but it will also flash.

i actually found the solution after contacting Dell. its not ideal but will do. If you clear the hardware log within OpenManage, where there will be an alert about the missing power connection, this will clear the alert and make the LCD screen change to blue. this will revert back to orange after a reboot but you'll just have to clear the log again

not ideal but better than nothing :-)

Well, the only real solution would be to connect both PSUs.
