Replacing failed drive on a M1000e blade?
Just noticed this in the CMC
Are the drives hot swappable? I've never replaced a drive on a blade before. Any particular model I should buy to replace it?

Hello thisisalloneword,
The hard drives on the blade are hot swap. If it's failed you can pull and replace.
Check the label on the drive and look for the DP/N number. This the Dell part number you need.

I pulled the drive out and the specs say:
SAS 6 gbps
400 GB
SSD
I found another drive in our spare parts with these specs:
SAS 6g dp 15k
72GB
But there's no mention if it is SSD or not. Can I just replace it with that one? Do I have to reinstall the OS on it? I am fairly sure this spare drive is not blank.

The new drive you are having (SAS 6g dp 15k) is HDD not SSD. Is the failed drive is part of any virtual disk and did you have redundant RAID configured on the system? If it is part of virtual disk then replaced drive also need to be same family and type of current drive. You also need to ensure size of physical disk is same or more than current virtual disk.

You can hotswap the disk. You can also check your disk size from OMSA or from IDRAC.
