SC440 - processor upgrade compatibility - Intel Core 2 Duo E7600
I am considerung upgrading my SC440 and I found the E7600, which - in theory - should meet the specs to run it.
IF you have better theoreticcal insight in this matter I'd be happy to be informed about it, if you have such a combination up and running please leave a note. I'd rather not spend $130 testing a processor that will possibly not be able to fire up my server. I guess there are many other happy SC440-users out there enjoying this litte silent and dependable miracle box. Thanks for your time!
If you are a Dell technician, you might have a list handy if these will work.
Most of my interest goes towards this processor:
| Product Number: | BX80571E7600 |
| Frequency: | 3.06 GHz |
| Cache: | 3MB Cache |
| Frontsidebus: | FSB1066 MHz |
| Socket: | LGA775 |
| Design: | ATX |
| Fabrication: | 45 nm |
| Core name: | Wolfdale |
| Technologies: | Enhanced Intel SpeedStep Technology, EM64T, Execute Disable Bit |
And: Will these Dual Core work (theoretically / practically)?
E5400, Dual Core, 2.7 GHz, 2MB
E6300, Dual Core, 2.8 GHz, 2MB
E6500, Dual Core, 2.93 GHz, 2MB
E6600, Dual Core, 3.06 GHz, 2MB
Finally: What about the core 2 duo version?
Core 2 Duo E7500, Dual Core, 2.93 GHz, 3MB, FSB1066
Core 2 Duo E7600, Dual Core, 3.06 GHz, 3MB, FSB1066
