Same SAS model disks with different size ?

Hello everyone,

I have just buy a bunch of disks (x9) to set a RAID 6 (6+2) having an extra for hotspare.

Disks are IBM 1.2TB and is a mix of models HUC101812CSS201 and HUC101212CSS601 installed this way:

Disk0  HUC101812CSS201

Disk1 HUC101812CSS201

Disk2 HUC101212CSS601

Disk3 HUC101212CSS601

Disk4 HUC101812CSS201

Disk5 HUC101812CSS201

Disk6 HUC101212CSS601

Disk7 HUC101212CSS601

but there are showing different size with the same HUC101812CSS201 model.

My extra spare is also an HUC101812CSS201 model showing 1.071TB available instead of 1.091TB

In this situation, i cannot create Vdisk in RAID 6 mode.

Any idea?

What is the firmware of each? That can make a difference.

Thanks for your question @theflash1932

Not working are:

Manufacturer IBM SSG
Product ID H0ZA1P2
Revision EF0A

Working are:

Manufacturer IBM SSG
Product ID H0XA1P2
Revision E770

Manufacturer IBM SSG
Product ID H0ZA1P2
Revision EF09

I have just put the two EF0A revision in position 0 and 1 and PERC didn't even propose them to create RAID vistual disk:Screenshot from 2022-06-26 15-39-26.png

Hi, you must bind the ones with the same disk size but if that’s not the case, you have to go with the smallest size basis. And I can see that your disk size is bit off- do you happen to use Non-Dell ones at the moment?
