Setting up my first poweredge server
Hi guys , im installing a fresh new poweredge R610 server.
I would like to know what tools / considerations can I take now in order to get better performance and maintenance facilities in the future.
This server will run ESXi or Proxmox for virtualization.
I have no special requierement for hdd usage , so I would like to priorize high availability and easy replacement.
I have 6 available bays.
What hdd raid level / distribution you recomend ?
Recently I hearded about openmanage, which platform should it run ?
Can I run it on virtualized linux host ?
Thanks for your advice.
Leandro.

The best RAID level for you really depends on what you plan on doing with it. For example, a RAID 5 would offer you the most storage capacity while still tolerating a drive failure, but would have less performance and tolerance than a RAID 10.
OpenManage Server Administrator needs to run on the host itself. For ESXi, you'll need to install the VIB package. The link below will explain how.
