Sub NUMA Cluster - Setting in BIOS - Only allows Disabled - Why?
Poweredge R740 --> IDrac ---> Configuration --> Bios Settings
Sub NUMA Cluster Option is set to Disabled with no ability to change to Enabled setting. Only Disabled appears in the Bios Settings.
What would cause this?

If your software doesn’t support NUMA or when it does, and it still shows bad performance it is recommended that you disable the option. There can be many occasions that this can happen/not happen depending on various setups users face, hence Dell provides disable options. Hope this helps and have a great one.

Thank you. But my issue is that i have no "enable" option in the bios for this option. Why is that so?

Would you do me a favor and confirm, in the BIOS, what the setting is under System Profile Settings - System Profile?
Also, what is being displayed under Node Interleaving as well?

Hello,
What BIOS revision are you on? I was looking through the firmware release history and have seen updates to BIOS and updates relating to NUMA, as well. If you aren't on the latest BIOS, I'd start with that.
For the Node Interleaving piece, I believe you have the setting you would want, per this document: https://dell.to/3cuxSBz
"Specifies if Non-Uniform Memory Architecture (NUMA) is supported. If this field is set to Enabled, memory interleaving is supported if a symmetric memory configuration is installed. If this field is set to Disabled, the system supports NUMA (asymmetric) memory configurations. This option is set to Disabled by default."
I'd personally set the performance profile to "Maximum Performance" for troubleshooting purposes, but I wouldn't expect the issue would be sourcing from there.

Hi, Memory Settings should have ” Node Interleaving” in the menu items:
Node Interleaving : Specifies if Non-Uniform Memory architecture (NUMA) is supported. If this field is Enabled, memory interleaving is supported if a symmetric memory configuration is installed. If Disabled, the system supports NUMA (asymmetric) memory configurations. By default, Node Interleaving option is set to Disabled.
You can enable/disable this feature (Node Interleaving) for NUMA to suit your needs.
