T300 Server not showing new memory as usable.
We were having slow performance issues with our main program our server hosts the data on. We were told we needed more than 4gb of memory on the server. My boss purchased memory 4-4gb chips to add to the server. He installed the new checks in sockets 3-6 and then system showed 20GB of RAM but only 2.99 usable. He then took out the original chips, and inserted two of the new one in the first 2 sockets thinking the different sizes was causing the problem, but wasn't. It still shows only 2.99gb usable with 16gb available.
From the system information screen, it shows the following:
Processor: Intel(r) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E6305 # 1.86GHz 1.87GHz
Installed Memory (RAM): 16.0 GB (2.99 Usable)
System Type: 32-bit Operating System, x64 based processor
Windows Edition - Windows 10 Pro N
Does anyone know why the Usable Ram is only showing 2.99GB and how that can be changed due to the new RAM being added?
Please let me know.

Hi
The reason you are getting memory restriction is because you are using a 32bit operating system.
The maximum memory you can use is 4gb and so much memory will be reserved for the integrated graphics.
If you upgrade the operating system to the 64bit version you will have the full compliment of memory
Hope this explains things for you

Is there someway to tell if the CPU is 64 bit to see if we can upgrade the operating system to 64bit?
According to the System Information Screen, it states "System Type: 32-bit Operating System, x64-based processor"
Device Manager shows 2 Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E6305 @ 1.86GHz processors.
Does this mean we can upgrade to the 64 bit version Windows 10 Pro N?
Please let me know.
Thank you for your help.

Your processor is 64-bit:

Yes, you can install the 64-bit version of Windows 10. (You can't "upgrade" - you must do a clean install.)
