JohnB88,

If you update the CMC it will indeed require a restart of the CMC, if you have dual CMC's it will simply failover to the 2nd. If you have a single CMC it will restart itself, so you will lose connectivity momentarily, but will not require a restart of the servers.

Hope this helps.

Hi Chris,

I think it was more a case of Reboot Required = Yes, doesn't make it clear whether it was just going to reboot the CMC and not the whole chassis power, does that make sense. Given the fact the the CMC has a fail-over we thought that would be the case it just updated the CMC but perhaps it could be made a little clearer?

Sorry one other question, is there a particular reason it doesn't show the System Board firmware (tested on a PowerEdge FX2)? Admittedly our system doesn't appear to have an update to the firmware checking manually, but this could be updated manually if I'm correct.

Thanks again.

The mainboard firmware is shown in the CMC Chassis Overview under the Update tab, as well as can be seen in OME under Hardware - Installed Software.

If an update is released you could do it in the CMC update.
