Upgrading a 3rd party bios on a PE1850
I have a Dell Poweredge 1850 I took in trade from a customer that was upgrading. In trying to repurpose it I discovered if has a Mcafee SCM appliance bios, that won't let me overwrite it. I tried two fixes I had read about for other dell servers editing the autoexec.bat files with -forcetype and -forced in both lower and upper case. Neither worked. I also tried the Dell OEM type bios which didn't work either. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Donatdonlo,
There isn't a supported solution I am aware of that will allow you to update the BIOS on that server. The BIOS installed was a custom version intended for Mcafee. With that installed there won't be a BIOS file we offer that will qualify to flash with. I would be careful trying to randomly flash it with updates as well. As some of the BIOS updates can actually damage the motherboard.
Let me know if this helps answer your question.

I read the same answer you gave on some other threads but those users were able to successfully flash the Bios on some PE2950's and PE R610's using the -forcetype with no issues.
