d R720 - Need to Wipe and Replace BIOS and Firmware - need procedure..

dddddddddddddd

I have a server that I would like to reuse.  However, the original OS was found to have viruses, malware, etc.  The server was a complete mess and has been verified as a system that was attacked by hackers.

I want to reuse the server and not through it in the garbage.  Therefore, I would like to WIPE the BIOS and all FIRMWARE and replace it using known good media.  I don't want to simply load a new OS on this hardware until I take the steps to verify that the BIOS and Firmware of the server is clean.

The Server is a Dell PowerEdge R720.

Can you please let me know the procedure to reload all of the firmware and BIOS?  I need to know where to get the FIRMWARE and BIOS and what the procedure is to delete it and load the new trusted BIOS and firmware.

Maybe like an SUU DVD can help?

You can use SUU, but you must first boot to the SMTD or SBUU DVD, choose Update Firmware, then insert SUU as the repository when prompted.

SBUU:

SUU: http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/04/DriverDetails/Product/poweredge-r720?driverId=7WJ8M&osCode=WS8R2&fileId=3362565951&languageCode=en&categoryId=SM

Alternatively, you can create a bootable disc to update the system using Repository Manager.  Select the R720 bundle (ONLY LINUX), then export as a bootable ISO.  Burn the ISO to DVD, boot to it and let it do its thing.

I'm frusterated with Dell...

OK, so, I am going to use the SUU.  I've downloaded the SUU from the following link:  http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/04/DriverDetails/Product/poweredge-r720?driverId=7WJ8M

However, before I can actually use the SUU, I want to verify the CHECKSUM HASH of the file I downloaded.  This is a good security practice as the public internet can be used to actually inject malware, viruses during the download process.  Checksum is protection against this...

HOWEVER, for some reason, Dell published the wrong checksum.  The checsum published on the download page above is for an HTML file, not the ISO.  Why in the world, would Dell publish an HTML file checksum????  Someone is not paying attention at Dell...

CAN ANYONE PROVIDE THE CORRECT CHECKSUM for the ISO?????
