iDRAC7 : unable to use vFlash as first boot device

Hello,

using the iDrac7 web gui, on a PE R720, I successfully booted from a virtual cd on the vFlash to install the OS.

the problem is that I can't select the same virtual cd as the first boot device. I can select it from the drop down menu of the server configuration page , but when i hit 'apply' the menu is back to 'main local removable media/floppy' (translated from french).

of course I could change the boot order at startup (the vFlash virtual cd is the last one by default) and change it back once I'm done but it would be annoying.

I'm using the last bios (1.3.6) and iDrac (1.23.23 Build 01)

any advice ?

Hi,

Using iDRAC we can set only Boot Once (Only for next reboot system will boot to vFlash and all subsequent reboot system will boot as per boot order) for vFlash Partitions.

Can you try same from a English Browser? You can also set vFlash as next boot device (boot once) by running following command in racadm

racadm config -g cfgServerInfo -o cfgServerFirstBootDevice

E.g. racadm config -g cfgServerInfo -o cfgServerFirstBootDevice PART01

Thanks-

Shine

it does works as expected from racadm or an english browser. thank you for pointing that out.

with a french browser the html select option for my virtual CD changes from :

vFlash : BPO710

to :

vFlash : BPO710

after i click on "apply"

thank you.

Joseph.
