poweredge 2650 wont boot properly
i aquired a dell poweredge 2650 without hard drives. i happened to have on hand a 9gb hd from a dead poweredge 2400 i had. i put the hard drive in and it starts ok. when it goes to boot it will sit at the inquiry command screen. after a minute or 2 it says timeout- during inquiry command and sometimes it does that 2 times of the error or sometimes once with the error. then it says the remote controller ip stuff and to press control d within 5 seconds to enter setup. then it says memory limited to 256mb of the 1gb i have then it gives me options to press f1 to continue or press f2 to enter setup. what am i do to. the hd i have in the server the only one is a wd 9gb hd with its own scsi controller on the hard drive. does it need to have 18gb min or does it need to have a scsi drive without onboard scsi controller. what can i do to make this poweredge work right

"inquiry command screen", "scsi controller on the hard drive" ... I'm not sure I follow what you're talking about.
Try clearing the NVRAM using the jumpers on the motherboard (then turn the embedded RAID back on) to see if the messages go away (256 RAM should - it is a non-default setting in the BIOS - OS Install Mode).

the inquiry command screen is where it tells u what scsi hard drives are there and what bus they are on and what if any controllers are on the board

looks like the hard drive itself is having issues cause its now taking longer then normal to be recognized and when it does i cant format the hard drive without the setup utility complaining that the host adapter is not found
